Humanity In Tech and Art at S.E.A. Focus

“The profound interplay between humanity and technology in the creation, presentation, and appreciation of art takes center stage in the sixth edition of S.E.A. Focus, a dedicated platform for Southeast Asian contemporary art. Commissioned by the National Arts Council, Singapore, the exhibition themed “Serial and Massively Parallel” delves into the impact of technology on the artistic process, offering unique perspectives on the evolving relationship between human expression and technological advancements.”

The exhibition brings together artworks from 22 galleries and over 40 artists from around the world, and is curated by John Tung, who has previously worked with the Singapore Art Museum, Singapore Biennale, Singapore International Photography Festival, among others, in similar capacity.

The exhibition is not focused on the digital, Tung clarifies, “but rather, (on) locating its place amidst a breadth of practices and mediums arising from the intrinsic human impulse to connect and to create.”

“In doing so, I hope audiences will find opportunities for reconnecting with shared experiences and see new ways of recognising the world around us.”

Among the artworks that will be showcased at the exhibition are those by Aiman (Singapore), Poklong Anading (Philippines), Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Thailand), Mella Jaarsma (Indonesia-based), and Tan Zi Hao (Malaysia).
