Seyd Symmetry Yacht – On Equal Measure
A BI-DIRECTIONAL SUPER YACHT CONCEPT DESIGNED FROM THE CENTRE OUT
by Katherine Arteche
The word ‘symmetry’ defines balance, and excellence in proportion. For Netherlands based designers Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design, it was the principle focus of their latest superyacht concept.
First presented at the 2015 Monaco Yacht Show, Symmetry shows a linear silhouette layout that transcends traditional boundaries of yacht design. Founder and CEO Sander J. Sinot says, “Functions on the decks are organised around the central void with an intuitive logic. The symmetrical shape of the hull allows for a bi-directional course at sea, tight manoeuvres and pivoting”.
Showing off a one-to-one mapping on all sides — except for the helideck — the luxury cruiser is clean, modern, and most of all, extravagant.
Towering at six decks, each with spacious interiors and exteriors for work and play, Symmetry has over 40 cabins, capable of accommodating over 80 people on board. Four VIP rooms are found in the Guest Deck, featuring en-suite lounges, balconies and a mid-ship glass-bottom pool. Guest facilities such as a spa, gym, outdoor pool, dining lounge and bar are concentrated on the Hotel Deck. There’s also a Beach Deck where a seawater pool/float in tender bay features prominently, the Wheelhouse and the Lower Deck, which contains a home theatre and kid’s playroom.
SYMMETRY REFLECTS A GENUINE OWNER-CENTRED PHILOSOPHY OF THE YACHT AS A CUSTOMDESIGNED PRIVATE ESTATE, MOVING FREELY OVER THE WORLD’S OCEANS
At the top of the tier, the Owner-Exclusive Deck is home to the owner’s state room, with a private spa, office, library, sky lounge and an infinity water feature. The yacht also carries a limo and sport tender, two day boats and six wave runners.
The interior follows a theme of treated timber and streamlined lighting. Muted tones and neutrals dominate the space and the use of colour and textures blend seamlessly all around.
According to Sinot, Symmetry was not created to be seen as rigid but harmonious. “It was our aim to create a synergetic balance of functionality, beauty, engineering and design. Symmetry reflects a genuine owner-centred philosophy of the yacht as a custom-designed private estate, moving freely over the world’s oceans, offering an abundance of space to welcome beloved ones to indulge, work, play and enjoy life.”
