Top Design Firms, Projects Receive Prestigious Awards
Interior Design Confederation Singapore (IDCS) hands out the Design Excellence Awards 2023
The best recent works of participating interior designers were given due recognition at the 10th Design Excellence Awards 2023 organised by the Interior Design Confederation Singapore (IDCS). A total of 177 awards in 32 categories were handed out to local and international designers, including professionals and students, who entered the competition.
The awards comprised of two tracks, the Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) for completed built projects by design professionals and Spatial Design Awards (SPADE) for completed academic projects by design students.
This year, the winning entries were selected by a jury panel made up of internationally renowned designers Barbara Barry, Colin Seah, Thomas Pheasant, Amy Picanco, Cameron Woo, and journalist Marc Almagro. They went through 176 IDEA entries for 23 categories and 68 SPADE entries for nine categories.
With a decade of sifting through hundreds of entries each year, and selecting the best to receive the awards, Design Excellence Awards has become a reliable international brand of excellence in interior design.
Speaking at the awards gala held at Shangri-La Hotel in December 2023, IDCS President Cameron Woo said, “We are thrilled to witness a consistent and increasing volume of submissions year on year. The variety of projects across countries made it very interesting to judge.”
He added: “It is our pleasure and honour to congratulate, recognise and celebrate the winners of The Outstanding Achievement Award, Project of the Year, The Emerging ID Firm of the Year and all the Award Winners, these are some of the highest accolades awarded to the Best of the Best Interior Designers in our industry.”
Among the highlights of the awards was the Special Award categories whose winners were selected by the IDCS council members following a rigorous process involving meticulous deliberation and democratic voting.
For 2023, the Outstanding Achievement Award was given to LTW Designworks whose projects include the Conrad Tianjin, Shangri-La Maldives, Shangri-La Diqing, and the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong.
