Why Bentley Motors’ new Flying Spur is built for drivers and passengers

The third generation of Bentley’s Grand Tourer is sure to turn heads

Bentley Motors has introduced a Blackline specification for its new Flying Spur, a four-door model that combines sports sedan agility with modern limousine refinement. The sleek automobile has been uniquely designed to satisfy both driver and passengers alike, integrating the very best in British craftsmanship with cutting-edge innovative features.

The Flying Spur was unveiled in partnership with Bentley Singapore, the oldest Bentley retailer outside of the United Kingdom at Wearnes Automotive’s newest showroom and lounge. David Lane, Bentley Motors Asia Pacific Operations Director, who was in attendance for the unveiling said, “the third generation Flying Spur is a showcase for Bentley’s contemporary cultural design language and with a bold and exciting road presence, it is unmistakably Bentley.”

The four-door sedan was built from the ground up to be uniquely designed to satisfy both driver and passengers alike. For those who appreciate good form, the Flying Spur has elegant, muscular proportions, especially at the rear that are highlighted through the marque’s latest generation cut-crystal effect LED matrix headlamps and new wrap-around rear lamps incorporating ‘B’ motifs.

The strong Bentley design continues on inside the car where new wing-themed fascia connect the front and rear passenger areas. Natural and authentic materials incorporated into the interiors also add an unmistakable Bentley feel to the car. The spacious cabin is enhanced by an extensive list of Single and Dual Veneer wood options. There are also fluted leather seats featuring diamond quilting for the Mulliner Driving Specification.

For passengers, a detachable Touch Screen Remote Control is the centrepiece of the rear seat experience. The unit operates all major functions, including blinds, climate control and rear seat massage functions, as well as the three superlative audio systems. It includes a 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen system and a unique 2,200W Naim system.

For the driver, the Bentley Rotating Display is the central feature of an exquisitely crafted dashboard. The HD instrument panel has the a 12.3-inch digital touchscreen, beautiful analogue dials or a digital detox wood veneer finish. Technology is at the forefront for drivers with its assistance systems that include a Night Vision infra-red camera, Traffic Assist, Blind Sport Warning and a Head-Up Display. Advanced Connectivity features, including an integrated Wi-Fi hotspot help drivers keep in touch with a range of real-time functions and services. Electronic All-Wheel Steering has also been used for the first time in a Bentley. It is combined with Active All-Wheel Drive and Bentley Dynamic Ride to deliver phenomenal handling and ride.

The heart of the Flying Spur is an enhanced version of Bentley’s 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged W12, mated to an advanced dual-clutch eight-speed transmission for faster, smoother gear changes. The souped-up engine takes the Flying Spur from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 333km/h.
